This year's International Academy Orchestra comprised a total of 58 young musicians from 22 countries - including Chile, Venezuela, Australia, Bulgaria and Turkey, as well as the usual large number of participants from Spain, Poland and Germany. A novelty this year was the inclusion of four percussionists for the first time, who could be experienced on a variety of instruments in both the symphonic programme and the film music. Equally new was the invitation of instrument group teachers from renowned German orchestras, who were able to unite the individual orchestral sections into homogeneous ensembles through intensive work during the first days of rehearsals.
