The 33rd SummerMusicAcademy Hundisburg Castle came to an end with a spectacular guest concert in Magdeburg's Johanniskirche, whose acoustics once again did justice to Bruckner's 5th Symphony. Two weeks with a total of 19 diverse events and over 2,500 enthusiastic visitors are now behind us. In addition to traditional, popular formats such as the candlelight concert, the serenade in the gardens and the jazz night, this year's programme once again featured new additions such as the singer-songwriter concert with Sebastian Krumbiegel. The master class in song and song accompaniment with Katharina Konradi and Daniel Heide, who opened the festival with their acclaimed master concert, was once again of the highest calibre. Interactive and accessible events such as public singing, the discussion concert, lunchtime concerts and, last but not least, the kids concert continued to gain in popularity. The highlight was, as always, the symphony concerts by the International Academy Orchestra conducted by Friedrich Praetorius, which this year consisted of 55 young musicians from 23 countries. A detailed, illustrated review of past and earlier festival editions can be found in the Impressions.
